The Spring/Summer 2018 fashion weeks came and went, and with it a melange of colour trends. While this year’s obsession may still be the gentle rose-tinted Millennial Pink and eye-popping Gen Z Yellow, bolder shades like emerald green and deep cobalt blue have taken centrestage.

The runway may have spoken, but did these colours meet the demand of mass market consumers? To understand which colours made it from the runway to retail stores, and ultimately to shoppers’ closets, main colour schemes showcased during the S/S18 fashion weeks were matched against the colour stories launched by major e-retailers throughout the season, to also identify styles adopted within these colour spectrums.

Over 10 million data points were extracted from January to June 2018, with monthly movement analysis and quarterly comparisons. 14 major e-retailers such as ASOS, Zalora, and Zara, and over 1,000 global fashion apparel were analysed, focusing on women’s tops, dresses, outerwear and jumpsuits.
